1.2 What do I need in order to use Online fee payment?

In order to be able to use Online fee payment, you need
  • an EPO deposit account
  • a smart card and smart card reader
  • a web browser
If you do not have a deposit account with the EPO, you can open one via the EPO website. Click here to go straight to the necessary request form.

Your deposit account will be available for use one to two days after you submit your form.

After opening a deposit account at the EPO, please take a look at the "Arrangements for deposit accounts" laying down the regulations
governing the operation of these accounts. The latest version is available as supplementary publication 4 to EPO Official Journal 2014:
http://www.epo.org/law-practice/legal-texts/official-journal/2014/etc/se4/p5/2014-se4-p5.pdf.

Your smart card and smart card reader can also be ordered directly from the EPO website. Click here, to take you to the Online fee payment page.

Once you have enrolled online for a smart card you will receive an e-mail containing your enrolment form.
