Representative

The representative is the person or organisation authorised to act in respect of patent transactions on behalf of the applicant. This can be the applicant himself, or a nominated party such as a patent attorney.

The representative format is made up of the family name followed by the given name(s) of the representative.

You are advised to enter the representative's name(s) using a phrase search, i.e. using the family name and given name(s) between quotation marks, as in "Smith John". This will retrieve only those documents in which the exact phrase is present.

Note: Information entered in this field is used to search in the name and addresses of both the representative and the opponent. Phrase searching is therefore further recommended as a means of finding the applications you are looking for.
