AND: Refining searches

 

In many instances, a search produces a result list that is far too long for the information you seek. You can narrow down a search by combining search terms using the AND operator.

The AND operator finds patents that match all the terms in the query. If none of the search terms are contained in a patent, that document does not appear in the result list.

Example

Applicant: John AND Smith

Applicant: Sony AND Philips
