The inventor is the person who is registered on the patent application as the inventor. This field may contain a list of names of persons. The Inventor can also be the applicant.
The inventor format is made up of the family name followed by the given name(s) of the inventor(s).
You are advised to enter the inventor names using a phrase search, i.e. using the family name and given name(s) between quotation marks, as in "Smith John". This will retrieve only those documents in which the exact phrase is present.
Inventor: Smith George - Retrieves all patent applications with the word "Smith" and the word "George" in the Inventor field.
Inventor: "Smith George" - Retrieves all patent applications with the exact phrase "Smith George" in the Inventor field.

Note: The Boolean operator AND is used implicitly in this field. For example, Smith John translates to Smith AND John.
